NFL Lions linebacker Campbell carted off to hospital
Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was carted off the field and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of a neck injury in Sunday's 19-15 NFL victory over previously unbeaten Minnesota.
The Lions announced the details after Campbell was placed onto a backboard and carted off the field early in the fourth quarter after being evaluated by medical personnel.
Campbell was injured after making his third tackle of the contest by stopping Minnesota tight end TJ Hockenson. He was prone face down on the field and not moving.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Jack and his family," Lions head coach Dan Campbell said in his comments immediately after the game. "He's being taken care of. We don't have any new information. We'll keep you updated as this goes, but we're thinking about him."
The 26-year-old from Iowa was the top 2023 NFL Draft selection by the Lions, 18th overall.
Campbell had a career-best season for Detroit in 2025 with 89 solo tackles, five sacks and 176 combined tackles. He also forced three fumbles and recovered two.
The Lions signed Campbell last May to a four-year contract extension worth $81 million.
