IRDAI gives stakeholders until October 31 to comment on distribution reforms
India’s insurance regulator extended its consultation after receiving more than 650 comments on proposals affecting commissions and management expenses.
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has extended the deadline for feedback on proposed insurance-distribution reforms to October 31, 2026.
IRDAI said its consultation had drawn more than 650 comments. The regulator moved the closing date to allow stakeholders and members of the public additional time to submit views and suggestions.
The proposals are set out in a two-part consultation paper titled “Recalibrating Economics of Insurance Distribution.”
The paper considers significant changes to the current regulatory framework, including limits on commissions and expenses of management. The extension keeps the consultation open through the end of October before the regulator considers the responses.
